What an art school is to me.

An art school to me isn’t what it says on the tin. Sure, to be called an ‘art school’ you need a range of different, highly skilled tutors and practitioners. A range of workshops to fit everyone’s needs. However, to me I believe it should be more than that. An art school should leave you inspired about the world around us, to always have you questioning and wanting more. Successful artists we
ren’t the ones in the back of the class, doing exactly what it said on the homework sheet their tutor wrote for them. No, they took a risk, pushed the boundaries of what they were given. Made their tutors question them. This is what art schools should be leaning towards. A tutors job should never be just to hit high grades, of course that is a big factor. However, a tutors job should leave their students thinking about possibilities and inspire them to want to make a difference.
The world is always looking for ‘the next big thing’ always changing and evolving. Surely, the changing times, should influence how tutors are teaching their students.
What I want to get out of being involved with an art school:
I going to get everything I can out of my three years on the course. To explore lots of different areas, mostly I want to make a change. I want to make people from all different careers and lifestyles to think more about how things are made. I want to change the stereo types of what people think an art student is.
Art is all about making our print, let’s start now.
