Design is the start of change. It has been with us through centuries. Evolving how we as humans live. The format of design comes from ideas that people have thought in their heads, essentially to make everyday life easier. A ‘good design’ doesn’t have to be the best thing ever created, nor does it have to show beauty. It just serves as a function and works well. Ergonomics (and you will see me use that word a lot through out my blogs) is the main root to how most functional objects are based on. Take a simple object such as a chair, its main function is to allow the weight of a human to comfortable sit on it. However, the manufactures have considered the ergonomics of a human to make sure that it is fit for the right target audience for that chair. We use a chair in everyday lives, from the morning commute to an evening at home. I studied a lot about chairs for my last final pair project. I discovered how we take a chair for granted as its function does exactly what we expect it to. However, if a chair you were using broke, the design and engineering behind it wouldn’t of succeeded. My idea of a good design should allow people to see the beauty behind the design and craft of that object. How a simple object has most likely gone through hundreds of changes and developments to get it to what you see it as today.

Design is what is stimulating change. It will never stop, it will always move forward.
